So, here’s an update on my new job. First off, I have my own office. It’s on the second floor of the firm, which is actually the third floor of the building. And it’s not, like, some supply closet they converted to an office for the summer. It’s an actual office. I’m going to use the coming 3-day weekend to figure out ways to decorate it. I have a desk and shelves and a filing cabinet and a computer.
I also have a stack of 16 boxes in the corner that I’m contemplating arranging between my desk and the door in the shape of a castle wall and then mounting squirt guns in the parapets to ward off intruders. I think that would be awesome.
I also have a nameplate outside the door. Every office does, which is nice for me because there are a lot of people whose names I don’t know yet. But anyway: NAME PLATE!
So far I have 5 assignments on my plate. 3 of them are due by June 1st, so I had to dive right in. I spent yesterday morning working on drafting interrogatories and a Request for Production of Documents. I’ve never done those before, so hopefully the partner who assigned it to me thinks they’re okay. I then spent the afternoon reading a deposition transcript and hunting down footnoted documents to find what an expert witness cited. We’re trying to discredit him and get his testimony thrown out, so that’s cool.
In the evening, there was a reception at a nearby restaurant for the summer class and whichever attorneys wanted to come. We had appetizers and beer, it lasted a couple hours and was really fun. Everyone’s so nice. I even got an invite from a firm lawyer named Jack to sit in on his depositions tomorrow morning, so that’s awesome. That’s all for now!

Hi, Thanx for the update, sounds like you’re off to a great start! Keep us posted, and GO JORDIN!!!
